Celestial Treat
Celestial Treat
Dan Iroz, 11Mar05, vA1
My wise and wonderful beautiful wife
She, who I’ve waited for all of my life,
A perfect fit that base hands surely covet
Silk glove, adorned radiance, Everest’s summit
Optimism waned... frankly, doubt wondered if
I would ever be blessed with this glorious gift.
Like the one I’d observed growing up as a child,
The dream near remitted, the tamed that was wild.
Oh then how surprised I most definitely was
When along came a woman... “for certain, because”
Remembering the song sung while swinging my stick,
“Today’s the day the teddy bears have their picnic”?
For “out in the woods alone” I would be,
Near famished, thrice trounced,my grave history…
Remembering the warning I rhymed as I roamed,
Don’t “go alone ..... better just stay at home”
And oh how the timing could not have been better,
For never before was I worse for the weather.
But love me she did with the package I came in,
The baggage, the basement, the slight droop in my grin.
And so much more than I ever have dreamed of,
Full of mischief and merriment... tempered above.
Full of laughter and quiet... serious and sweet
An helpmeet divine... a celestial treat
She brings out the best that is in me and more
For I love her beyond what I now do adore.
I love her beyond what time’s limits impose.
I love her, my precious and eternal rose.
She matches my charm wit for wit and guffaw.
She tussles my tenders and tickles each flaw.
Tougher than what she might want me to think,
Stretching my patience near the water to drink
Hanging onto her freedom… perceived as if threatened,
She is proud of reliance on self and on heaven.
Moved by tenderness that I barely muster…
Stone cold as granite by insensitive bluster .
A woman all women must admire and esteem
Observing her strengths that equal their dream
Discerning her weaknesses, barely at all…
Especially contrasted with each of their flaws.
And men shaking heads at my luck are quite baffled,
Wondering what odds I beat winning this raffle
Passing in effort to commend but not covet,
Mumbling in mind that “he better not flub it”.
