To my boss at his company sponsored surprise birthday party
Eric The Great
...Dan Iroz, 11Feb05, vA1
You’ve heard of Eric the Great…
Or was that Alexander?
And Eric the Red…
Of him it’s said… well…
See “Saga of Greenlander”
For those of you
With contemporary hues,
Perhaps you’ve heard of Clapton.
With slow hand guitar
Blues from the heart,
A master at his profession.
But amongst us here
Is one more dear
Than the Red was to Viking maidens.
And in his field
He does not yield
To those who would defeat him.
And like the Persian foe of Great’s
Who did sorely underestimate
That young Greek god,
Who then o’er them trod
Like so much rice at weddings,
Our enemy here
Was likewise sheared…
Blustering as it bellowed.
So to our hero Eric Gurr
We give our thanks and say…
If you could sing and play guitar
Like you can move and shake,
You’d find Clapton waking Elvis
Eating sour grapes!
